TEMPO Interaktif, Jakarta:Chief of the Indonesian Military (TNI) Adm. Widodo AS affirmed that the TNI Headquarters would not let the officers allegedly involved in the Batu Merah shooting, Ambon, Maluku, on Sunday (21/1) to be out of law. He instructed TNI Headquarters to summon them to Jakarta for further investigations. Widodo made this announcement before attending the Cabinet meeting at Presidential Office Bina Graha today.
TNI Headquarters will send a fact-finding team to Ambon to gather the facts. TNI spokesperson Maj. Gen. Graito Usodo said that the team would gather facts and investigate TNI’s involvement in the incident that killed civilians.
The dispatched team consists of intelligence, operational officers, inspectors and military police. “The team’s investigation will complete the previous report,” said Widodo.
Regarding the need for dispatching new personnel to settle the unrest in Ambon, it depends on situation in Ambon. The presence of personnel stationed in Ambon is thought to be adequate.
