TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo left Iran after the conclusion of the President’s state visit and continued his working visit to Aceh.
President Joko Widodo and the First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo along with entourage departed from Iran on Wednesday at 10 pm local time.
The Indonesia-1 Presidential Plane landed at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Banda Aceh on Thursday around 9:30 am local time.
From Banda Aceh, the President and the First Lady departed for a working visit to Bireuen by the Air Force’s Super Puma helicopter.
In Bireuen, the President inspected Pidie Jaya’s earthquake disaster mitigation process.
As previously reported, the three regions hit the hardest by Aceh earthquake were the districts of Bireuen, Pidie Jaya and Pidie.
The President visited shelters, schools and mosques in the regions.
The President’s visit to Aceh was made for the second time in the past week.
In his first visit after Aceh earthquake, on December 12, having performed Friday prayer at Salamanga Grand Mosque in Bireun District, the President said that his visit to Aceh was made to ensure the best disaster mitigation measures were taken.
“The central government will try its best to immediately rebuild particularly public facilities, such as mosques, Islamic boarding schools, schools, as quick as possible,” the President said last week, as quoted by Antara.
