TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Indonesian Military commander Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo called on public not to be concerned with the Indonesian Communist Party since its existence has been banned by Provisional People’s Consultative Assembly decree No. 25/1966.
“No institution can disband the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR). So, no need to worry,” Gatot said after attending the anti-communist symposium titled “Protecting Pancasila from Threats of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) and other Ideologies” in Jakarta on Thursday, June 2, 2016.
According to Gatot, communism is not the only ideology threatening the country. However, he called on public to be on guard and said that the Indonesian Military would be on the frontline in preventing the return of communism.
Gatot said that other threats that posed even greater dangers were overpopulation and energy crisis. Amidst the threat posed by energy crisis, Gatot said that Indonesia had a strategic position with its natural resources.
