TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo has been installed as an honorary member of the Indonesian Military’s (TNI) special forces in a military ceremony at the TNI’s headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Thursday morning, April 16, 2015.

TNI commander General Moeldoko led the ceremony, accompanied by Army chief of staff Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo, Navy chief of staff Admiral Ade Supandi, Air Force chief of staff Air Marshal Agus Supriatna, and a string of other military top brass.

The ceremony was themed “Through the ceremony and inauguration of Indonesia’s Seventh President as TNI’s Supreme Commander to Become Member of TNI’s Special Forces, We Realize Soldiers’ Professionalism to Support TNI’s Main Tasks.”

The ceremony involved 6,540 personnel, including 750 soldiers from the TNI headquarters, 2,100 from the Army, 2,050 from the Navy, and 1,550 from the Air Force.

The TNI also rolled out a parade of its armaments, including MBT Leopard 27A tanks, Tarantula Canon panzers, Commando Surveillance panzers, Grom guided missiles, 155 MM KH 179 cannons, the Marines’ BMP 3F and LVT 7, and RM-70 rockets.
