TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Donal Fariz, a researcher at the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), viewed that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo started his first 100 days in office with poor performance. According to Donal, Jokowi deserves red marks on his “report card”.
“In terms of law enforcement, for instance, we gave Jokowi five,” Donal told Tempo on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, adding that Jokowi was lacking breakthroughs and agendas in the effort to eradicate corruption.
Donal added that Jokowi, as a winner of Bung Hatta Award, should have made breakthroughs in justice in his first 100 days, such as making a grand design of the law enforcement for the coming years in his tenure.
In addition, Donal said that Jokowi showed poor performance in terms of administration. According to Donal, vital positions in Jokowi’s administrations are occupied by politicians who tend to have political interests.
For instance, Donal explained, the Justice and Human Rights Minister, the Attorney General, and the National Police chief positions are occupied by party-affiliated individuals.
“I can give 5.5 [for Jokowi’s overall performance] since the new Constitutional Court (MK) chief is good enough, and the selection had involved the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Unfortunately, [Jokowi] was inconsistent,” Donal said.
