TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo presided over a limited meeting on the preparations for the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) commemoration, which is slated to take place in the West Java capital of Bandung, at the Presidential Office on Friday, January 9, 2015.

“This morning we will discuss the necessary preparations for the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference that will be organized in Bandung,” the president said to open the meeting.

Jokowi said the commemoration would be the right moment to remind the world that Indonesia had had a paramount role in the international community. “We want to bring up that memory,” he said.

In the meeting, Jokowi instructed his aides to immediately complete the preparations for the event, which, among others, encompassed logistics, security and protocol affairs, as the event was scheduled to be held in April 2015. “Please prepare the plans and organize things,” he said.

Attending the meeting were Vice President Jusuf Kalla; Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi; Coordinating Economic Minister Sofyan Djalil; Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno; State Secretary Pratikno; National Police chief Gen. Sutarman; Presidential chief of staff Luhut Pandjaitan; West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan; and Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil.
