Hate Speech Group Saracen Has 800,000 Social Media Accounts

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hate speech group Saracen has 800,000 social media accounts after previously managing only 2000 accounts.

Sr. Comr. Irwan Anwar, the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit Cyber Crime Division head, said that the accounts are used to spread hate speech in various forms. The group does not only make new accounts but also hacked other accounts and follow the latest news.

The police said that Saracen group is linked to more than one group. It operates by creating contents based on consumer orders. One of the contents is criticisms against the Jokowi administration.

The police have so far arrested three members of Saracen group, namely two men Jasriadi, 32, Muhammad Faizal Tanong, 43, and a woman Sri Rahayu Ningsih, 32. Faizal was arrested in Koja, North Jakarta, on July 21, Jasriadi was nabbed in Pekanbaru, Riau, on August 7, and Sri was apprehended in Cianjur, West Java, on August 5.
