  • TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Jusuf Kalla has donated Rp1 billion to Palestine on behalf of the Indonesian government. The funds are to be used for buying medical equipment, medicines and ambulances. “Due to problems of distance between both countries and access in entering Palestine, the donation will be delivered through the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) as they are the only organization that can pass through the conflict areas in Palestine. “The Palestinian government has acknowledged this donation,” Kalla told the press after making a symbolic donation to the Palestinian Ambassador for Indonesia Ribhi Awad at his ministerial office in Jakarta on Thursday (11/4). Awad thanked Indonesian government and people for their support. “On behalf of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, all Palestinian people and refugees, please accept my gratitude,” he said.
