TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Suspect on Hambalang graft case, Anas Urbaningrum, avoided the press' questions when asked over his statement to be hanged at the National Monument (Monas).
Previously, back in 2012, Anas was noted on saying that he is ready to be hanged at Monas if proven corrupt. "Who said so? [...] At the court, there is no proof that I was involved in Hambalang," he said.
“I am sure. If I corrupt even Rp1, hang me at Monas,” said Anas at that time, when he was still the Democrat Party Chairman.
As the court gears up for reading the verdict, Anas refused to tell if he is going to file an appeal or accept the verdict. "I have not had my sentence. The point is, a fair justice is based on facts," he said. "We will see."
KPK prosecutors had charged Anas over 15 years of imprisonment. They also charged Anas over retribution of Rp94.18 billion and US$5,261,070.
