  • TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesian Vice President Hamzah Haz has said that House of Representatives (DPR) members are entitled to use their inquiry rights over the PT Indosat divestment but he asked them not to make a fuss about the matter. Hamzah made this statement to reporters following Friday prayers at the Jami Al-Ikhlash mosque in Matraman, East Jakarta, on Friday (3/1). According to Hamzah, the Indosat divestment is already in the implementation stage. Moreover, he added, the decision to sell the governments 41.94 percent share in Indosat to Singapore Technologies Telemedia came as the joint decision of the government and the DPR. Theres no way we will change the decision on Indosats divestment, said Hamzah. He added that the DPR could use their questioning and inquiry rights if they saw some impropriety in the implementation of the divestment. Regarding the accusation from former president Abdurrahman Wahid that Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) received a commission from the divestment, Hamzah requested the public not to assume the worst. It is important to clear things up through the normal procedures within the DPR, he said. (Deddy Sinaga-Tempo News Room)
