TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Attorney General's Office once again declared the former Managing Director of the State Logistics Company (Bulog), Widjanarko Puspoyo, as suspect. This time Widjanarko is related to the case of alleged rice export corruption in 2004. The export was from Indonesia to a country in Africa through a company in Switzerland, said AGO spokesperson, Salman Maryadi, in his office yesterday (14/6).This is the third case that involves Widjanarko. Before, Widjanarko was a suspect in the case of cattle import corruption from Australia, causing the state Rp11 billion in losses. Widjanartko was also a suspect in the case of accepting gifts from Bulog's rice import associate in Vietnam.Salman explained the third case began when Widjanarko as Bulog's Managing Director ordered the export of 50,000 metric tons of rice for the buyer Ascot Commodity NV, whose base was in Geneva, Switzerland. The rice was to be exported to Africa, yet at the same time, Indonesia imported rice from Vietnam.According to Salman, the indication of the violation allegation was the price of rice to be exported to Africa. This was below the sales price domestically, so it caused a loss for the state. It is estimated to reach tens of billion rupiah, said Secretary of Deputy Attorney General for Special Crime, Kemas Yahya Rahman, who accompanied Salman. However, the alleged state's losses, said Kemans, are still being calculated by the Development Finance Controller (BPKP). In addition to infringement of price allegation, another allegation is that the export was carried out without Bulogs commissioner's permission.Director of the AGO Investigation, M. Salim, said that investigators are still analyzing and developing the case. Widjanarko has been named as suspect, said Salim, The number of suspects may still grow, depending on the investigation.Bonaran Situmeang, Widjanarko's lawyer, said that he did not know that his client was named a suspect in the case of rice exports in 2004.SANDY INDRA PRATAMA | SUKMA N LOPPIES
