Jokowi Meets with Pangkotama to Discuss Security Issues

TEMPO.CO, Bogor - President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla held Friday a meeting with commanders of the main command (pangkotama) nationwide to discuss a slew of undamental issues, including primary weaponry defense system (alutsista) and illegal fishing.

“We discussed about alutsista’s condition, illegal fishing and also illegal logging. Everything has been said,” said Jokowi at Bogor Palace on Friday.

Security issues such as territorial problem, radicalism, ISIS, were also discussed.

The president also discuss soldiers’ welfare, focusing particularly on housing and salary of soldiers.

He told all commanders that there needed to be a long-term plan for the Indonesian National Forces (TNI), not only in the next five or ten years, but also in the next 25 and 50 years.

The plan is necessary to determine a clear direction for the TNI. “So, we can see which way we are going,” said Jokowi.
