TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Roichatul Aswidah from the Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) said that the commission has sent a letter for President Joko Widodo, asking for a hearing. Roichatul said that the commission wants to bring back seven cases of human rights violation.
"We would like a hearing on past cases of human rights violation, bringing justice to those responsible of it," said Roichatul. Jokowi, however, has yet to confirm that he will welcome the hearing notion.
Last June, the Supreme Court returned seven files of investigation of heavy human rights violation. The court claimed that the files have yet been completed in terms of material and non-material. The seven cases include the 1998 May Riot and the Wamena Killing in 2003.
