Central Bank Prepares Small Banknotes

TEMPO Interactive : Bank Indonesia office in Purwokerto Central Java said it has prepared Rp 10,8 billions of smaller banknotes to meet the rising demands for smaller notes before Idul Fitri holiday.

Hundreds of people have started to exchange their money into smaller notes at the central bank office in the district. The office put the average number of customers at 600 per day.

The office also set a maximum limit for the transaction, for example Rp1.000 notes at 200 thousand rupiah and Rp20.000 notes at 2 million rupiah.
